Oak Street Garden Shop opened in Crestline Village in the Mountain Brook suburb of Birmingham, Alabama in 1990. The past years have seen it grow from a tent in the middle of a city parking lot with a few flats of annuals to a vibrant member of the retail community.

Owner Billy Angell credits this growth to his belief that quality plants, creativity, and excellent customer service are the key to success. Readers of the Birmingham News agreed in 2004 and 2005, rating Oak Street "Best Garden Shop in Birmingham".

Oak Street Garden Shop is well known in the Birmingham community for many reasons. Though a relatively small, independent garden shop, during the height of Spring the variety of plant material- unusual annuals, perennials, tropicals, and shrubs- is excellent. Custom outdoor planter combinations are considered by many to be the best in Birmingham. Indoor arrangements using mixtures of houseplants, orchids, and other flowering material are also in high demand throughout the year.

The holidays bring Fraser fir Christmas trees from the same North Carolina grower who also supplies the White House Christmas trees. A large selection of greens, garlands, and berries abound for those wanting to decorate with style. Mailbox decorations, door swags, and decorated wreaths from the shop grace many of Birmingham's finest homes during this festive season.
